Service Description

Complete your Oklahoma SDA Handgun License training with A-TAC Academy - The Oklahoma Academy of Tactical Education.  This state-approved course meets the training requirements for applying for a 5-year or 10-year Oklahoma Handgun License and provides the documentation needed for reciprocity with other states. Students receive professional instruction focused on safe, responsible, and confident carry.

Format:

In-person training with classroom sessions and supervised range time at a local shooting range

Certification:

Upon successful completion (70% or higher on the written exam + passing the live-fire qualification), you will receive your official A-TAC SDA Training Certificate signed by a CLEET-certified instructor. This certificate is valid for license applications for 3 years and can be submitted directly to OSBI.

What You'll Learn

SDA - In-Class

(appr. 7 hours)

  • Oklahoma Self-Defense Act (Title 21) and use-of-force laws

  • Legal responsibilities when carrying a firearm

  • Firearm safety rules and best practices

  • Situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and de-escalation

  • Proper storage, transportation, and maintenance of handguns

  • Oklahoma-specific statutes on concealed and open carry

SDA - At-Range

(appr. 1 hours)

  • Live-fire qualification to meet official CLEET armed security standards (typically with 9mm, .38, or .45 caliber handguns)

  • You will shoot the official CLEET course of fire and must pass all stages for certification.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with Oklahoma residency

  • No felony convictions or other disqualifiers.

What to bring

  • Government-issued photo ID

  • Your own pistol (semi-automatic or revolver)

  • Quality holster (strong-side or appendix)

  • Eye and ear protection

  • 100 rounds of factory ammunition for your firearm

  • Water, lunch/snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing

  • Sturdy footwear

Registration

Spots are limited for each class to maintain a high instructor-to-student ratio. Pre-registration required.
