Service Description

Complete your Oklahoma SDA Handgun License training with A-TAC Academy - The Oklahoma Academy of Tactical Education.  This state-approved course meets the training requirements for applying for a 5-year or 10-year Oklahoma Handgun License (Concealed Carry Permit) and provides the documentation needed for reciprocality with many other states. Students receive professional instruction focused on safe, responsible, and confident carry.

Course Overview

Format:

In-person training with classroom sessions and supervised range time at a local shooting range

Certification:

Upon successful completion, you will receive your official SDA Certificate of Completion and official A-TAC SDA Training Certificate signed by a CLEET-certified instructor. This course certificate is valid for license applications  and can be submitted directly to OSBI.

Who It's For:

Individuals 21 years or older (18+ if active military or honorably discharged) who want to apply for their Oklahoma SDA Handgun License (Concealed Carry Permit) and complete the required concealed carry training. Ideal for first-time gun owners, security professionals, or seasoned carriers seeking official credentials.

What You'll Learn

SDA - In-Class

(appr. 7 hours)

  • Oklahoma Self-Defense Act (Title 21) and use-of-force laws

  • Legal responsibilities when carrying a firearm

  • Firearm safety rules and basic firearm training

  • Proper storage and transportation of handguns

  • Oklahoma-specific statutes on concealed and open carry

SDA - At-Range

(appr. 1 hours)

  • Live-fire qualifications 

  • You will shoot the official SDA course of fire 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old (18+ if active military or honorably discharged)

  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with Oklahoma residency (unless military)

  • No felony convictions or other disqualifiers.

What to bring

  • Government-issued photo ID

  • Your own pistol (semi-automatic, revolver or derringer) Anything from a .22 to a .45

  • Eye and ear protection

  • 50 rounds of factory ammunition (no steel or reloads) for your firearm

  • Water, lunch/snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing including a hat with a bill (Range is outdoors)

  • Sturdy footwear
