CLEET requires continuing education for license renewal. Security guards, armed or unarmed, must complete 8 hours per licensing period. Private investigators, armed or unarmed, must complete 16 hours.

CLEET requires annual firearms requalification for anyone holding an armed license. The qualification course depends on your license type.

CLEET security guard and PI licenses are renewable for up to 30 days past the expiration date. After that 30-day window closes, the renewal option is gone and you have to submit a new license application from scratch.

If you previously held a CLEET security guard or PI license and have been inactive for more than five years, you cannot simply reapply. CLEET requires you to complete all applicable phases of training again before issuing a new license.

This is in the rule explicitly. Firearms requalification courses will not count toward mandate training.
