Course Overview Total Hours: 40 hours (Phase 1: 20 hours + Phase 2: 20 hours) Format: In-person, hybrid, or flexible online options available (depending on provider) Certification: Upon successful completion and passing the CLEET Phase I/II state exam, you receive certification to apply for your Oklahoma Unarmed Security Guard license (valid for 2 years) Who It's For: Individuals 18 years or older seeking entry-level security positions in retail, events, corporate, construction sites, hospitals, and more What You'll Learn Phase 1 – Basic Private Security Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act Legal powers and limitations of a security officer Powers of arrest and use of force guidelines Observation, reporting, and documentation skills Emergency procedures (fire safety, first aid, crisis response) Ethics, professional conduct, and public relations Patrol techniques (foot and vehicle) Phase 2 – Unarmed Security Guard Advanced post duties and site-specific security Investigation basics and field notes Threat awareness and suspicious activity recognition Communication with law enforcement Additional Oklahoma laws and regulations relevant to unarmed security Requirements Must be at least 18 years old U.S. citizen or legal resident (Oklahoma residency often required for licensing) High school diploma or GED (recommended) Pass a background check (as required by CLEET for licensing) No felony convictions that disqualify you under Oklahoma law
