Take the next step in your security career and become eligible for an Oklahoma Armed Security Guard or Armed Private Investigator license. A-TAC Academy (Oklahoma Academy of Tactical Education) offers fully CLEET-approved Phase IV Firearms training in a safe, professional, and supportive environment. Course Overview Total Hours: 32 hours (approximately 16 hours classroom + 16 hours live-fire range training) Format: In-person with dedicated classroom sessions and supervised range time at a local shooting facility Certification: Upon 100% attendance, scoring 85%+ on written exams, and successfully passing all CLEET-mandated range qualifications, you receive documentation to apply for your Armed Security Guard / Armed Private Investigator license Who It’s For: Current or soon-to-be unarmed security guards (who have completed Phase I & II) or Private Investigators (Phase III) who want to carry a firearm on duty. Ideal for those 21+ seeking higher-paying armed positions in security, executive protection, events, and private investigations. What You’ll Learn in CLEET Phase IV Oklahoma laws on firearms possession, transport, and use of deadly force Legal powers, limitations, and justification for armed security officers Firearm safety, nomenclature, inspection, loading/unloading, and maintenance Fundamentals of marksmanship and shooting positions Handgun handling skills, drawing from holster, and tactical shooting techniques Range procedures, stress management under fire, and decision-making Handcuffing basics and arrest techniques (as applicable to armed roles) Live-fire qualification to meet official CLEET armed security standards (typically with 9mm, .38, or .45 caliber handguns) Range Qualification You will shoot the official CLEET course of fire and must pass all stages for certification. Requirements & Prerequisites Must be at least 21 years old (required for armed licensing) Successfully completed CLEET Phase I & II (for Armed Security Guard) or Phase III (for Armed Private Investigator) Pass the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) psychological evaluation (required for armed upgrade – we can guide you on this) Clean background (no disqualifying felonies) Bring your own: handgun (9mm, .38, or .45 recommended), holster, duty belt, 3+ magazines/pouches, 400–450 rounds of quality ammunition, eye/ear protection, comfortable clothing, and sturdy footwear No live weapons allowed in classroom
