Expired CLEET Security Guard Licenses Over 30 Days Require New Application

CLEET security guard and PI licenses are renewable for up to 30 days past the expiration date. After that 30-day window closes, the renewal option is gone and you have to submit a new license application from scratch.

A $25 late fee applies starting one day after expiration. Continuing education hours are still required either way. Submitting a new application does not erase the CE obligation from the prior cycle.

CLEET sends notification to the email address on your portal profile if you miss the renewal window. If your email is out of date, you may not know your license has lapsed until you check the portal yourself.
