License Holders Inactive Over Five Years Must Complete Full Training Again

If you previously held a CLEET security guard or PI license and have been inactive for more than five years, you cannot simply reapply. CLEET requires you to complete all applicable phases of training again before issuing a new license.
This includes the Phase 1 Basic course (20 hours), and depending on the license type, Phase 2 for security guards (20 hours), Phase 3 for PIs (35 hours), or Phase 4 firearms training (32 hours per firearm category).
The five-year inactivity rule cuts off the training waiver that would otherwise apply to applicants with prior experience. Comparable training from other sources may be credited, but only if completed within the last five years.
ATAC conducts all four CLEET phase courses. If you are returning to the industry after a long break, contact us to schedule the required training.
