Phase IV — Foundational Knowledge

What we will cover

  • Legal foundations for armed private security & PIs under the Oklahoma Security Guard & Private Investigator Act (use-of-force, carry while on duty, liability, documentation). Legal Information Institute

  • Approved weapon platforms and calibers for training and qualification (handgun: revolver .38/.357+ or semi-auto 9mm+; rifle/shotgun when applicable). Legal Information Institute

What to Expect Logistically

  • Psychological evaluation (MMPI) must be completed before Phase IV training, by a licensed psychologist using CLEET’s process/form. Legal Information Institute

  • Age 21+ to be licensed as armed (security guard or PI). Justia

  • Equipment & firearms: Platforms/calibers must meet CLEET rules for training/qualification (e.g., 9mm+ semi-auto or .38/.357+ revolver). Legal Information Institute

  • Testing: Written Phase IV Firearms Exam (CareerTech) and a passing qualification Course of Fire; armed licensees must requalify annually. Welcome to Oklahoma's Official Web Site
